Living in New York City allowed me to witness the events taking place in lower Manhattan.

I awoke  on the morning a little bit later than usual, because I didn't go to work that day.  I had intended to be in south SoHo for an  important appointment that I had.  The location I was supposed to be at is about three-quarters of a mile north of The Trade Center. After I awoke I turned on the TV and the station that was on depicted what appeared to be an animation of The World Trade Center with a plane hitting it, or so it appeared to me at that moment.  It took less than a minute to realize from what the news commentator was saying that one of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center had been hit by a plane.  The first thought that entered my mind was, "Oh, how terrible!"  I pondered the situation for a while and continued to watch the events unfolding.  Approximately 45 minutes later the live coverage seemed to display another plane striking the other tower of the Trade Center.  It took less than a minute for me to realize that the first strike was no accident and that somebody or some group had planned these attacks.  I cancelled my appointment in SoHo and continued to watch the events being shown on TV.  A little while later the first tower that had been attacked, literally disintegrated before my eyes on TV.  It took only a few seconds for it to crash to the ground - all 110 stories of it.  A little while later the second tower did exactly the same thing.  It was an incredible sight to say the least.  Later in the day, I went to The Promenade in Brooklyn Heights and took photos of the terrible situation in lower Manhattan.   Some of the photos taken are being displayed here.
